At Japanese Market, we strive to make shopping from Japan as simple and convenient as possible. Our payment system is designed to provide a secure, transparent, and straightforward experience for customers around the world.

You do not need to worry about figuring out how to pay on Japanese shopping platforms. All prices and transactions on our website, in your shopping cart, and in your account dashboard are displayed and processed in Japanese yen (¥ / JPY). Currency conversion is handled automatically through your account balance.

Available Payment Options:

• Credit and Debit Cards (Stripe): Add funds to your account balance using Visa, Mastercard, and other major international payment cards issued outside Japan.

• PayPal: Add funds to your account balance through your PayPal account.

Payment Security and Privacy

• Secure Transactions: Payments are processed through encrypted payment gateways designed to meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

• Your Payment Information Stays Private: Japanese Market does not have access to, collect, or store your full payment card details. Payment information is transmitted securely to the payment processor.

• Instant Balance Updates: Once a transaction is successfully completed, the funds are promptly credited to your account balance in your dashboard.

How Payments Work

Every order on Japanese Market involves two separate payments, both made from your account balance

1. First Payment: Purchasing Your Items

You pay for the item itself plus our fixed ¥500 service fee per item. These charges are displayed as separate line in your cart.

• Items from our catalog: Pay directly from your account balance as soon as you're ready to purchase.

• Items ordered through external links: Pay through the Purchase Requests section after our team reviews the item and confirms the price.

We purchase the item from the Japanese seller only after your payment has been confirmed.

Availability and Refunds

In exceptional cases, an item may become unavailable from the seller or impossible to purchase for reasons beyond our control, even after payment. If this happens, your order will be canceled and the full amount will be refunded to your Japanese Market account balance.

• If you cancel before we purchase the item: We’ll refund 100% of the item price to your account balance.

• If we have already purchased the item: If the seller accepts returns and you decide to cancel before the item ships from our warehouse, 100% of the item price will be credited to your account balance, we will also deduct the shipping cost if applicable. If you subsequently withdraw those funds to your card or PayPal account, the payment provider’s applicable refund or reversal fees will be deducted.

2. Second Payment: International Shipping

International shipping is charged separately and paid from your account balance according to your selected shipping carrier’s rates.

For both catalog purchases and items ordered through external links, your shipping invoice is prepared after your items arrive at our warehouse in Japan, are inspected, weighed, and packaged.

Once your shipping payment is confirmed, we’ll dispatch your package to your destination country.

Important Information for International Customers

Additional Charges and Import Duties

Our service fees and international shipping charges do not include customs duties, import taxes, or other fees imposed by your destination country.

If your shipment exceeds the duty-free import threshold set by local law, you are responsible for paying all applicable customs duties, taxes, and import fees during customs clearance.

Please note: We do not offer international shipping to Russia.
